It ain't just in the cartoons..........

Can you see where this is leading? Ok, let's go for it. Every month on the last Thursday, a chain pizza place takes part of the proceeds of customers and gives it back to the school.........and we go every last Thursday of every month......we've only missed one, and that was because someone was sick. Now the restaurant is crowded, LOUD and the food is ok..........I of course gorge myself on the salad bar, love those greens and veggies........of course I HAVE to have a few slices of garlic bread with it...........well don't look at me like that.........I think it's an amendment to the constitution or something. Of course with two boys, 7 and 3, after dessert of brownies, cinnamon rolls, and some sort of carmel frosting thing, their hands are like the best glue going on the market............off to the restrooms..........sometimes Dad takes both of them, sometimes we split up, so we can get in and out.............now that part is an oxymoron..........me and speed..........hmmm, they just don't go together........any ways, this week daughter and I took the little one for hands and potty and Dad took oldest grandson with him........all business taken care of..........out we come.........now I am in the lead (that in itself is a rarity........I usually plod behind) and the next thing I hear is "Mom, Mary!!!!!!" not a quiet version of these names either.........well trust me on this, by this time I am cranky, not feeling groovy and just plain not a happy camper, get me out of this noise and chaos..............so I do an about face and with my best nasal sounding voice (yes my adenoids and tonsils are out, but still have this irritating nasal sounding voice) say "WWHHHHAT?" have you guessed it yet.......yeah, the dreaded toilet paper parade on my foot.........and I mean one looooooong trail. Ok, most women would be embarrassed and just take the opposite foot and tug it off...........well this paper friend was bound to stay with me........I mean at one point all three of the adults in this trio had their foot on the flimsy white stuff that most restaurants use.........this stuff was tough!!!!!! Now we are starting to look like some sort of ritual dance of some unknown culture..........well you guessed it........I got the giggles..........and I mean the giggles........when it finally came off I tried walking with what dignity didn't leave me with the toilet paper, but alas, can there be dignity with an over extended in girth Nana holding the hands of her grandson and laughing and giggling like someone who hasn't taken their prescribed meds in over a week? No. What can I say........life goes on...........and I hope that for my part that I leave it better and with a smile on some one's face...........

I like this..............

Can you cry under water?
How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered?
Why do you have to "put your two cents in".. but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were buried in for eternity?
Why does a round pizza come in a square box?
What disease did cured ham actually have?
How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?
Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up like every two hours?
Why do doctors leave the room while you change?
They're going to see you naked anyway.
Why is "bra" singular and "panties" plural?
Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?
If Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why is there a stupid song about him?
Can a hearse carrying a corpse drive in the carpool lane ?
If the professor on Gilligan's Island can make a radio out of a coconut, why can't he fix a hole in a boat?
Why does Goofy stand erect while Pluto remains on all fours? They're both dogs!
If Wile E. Coyote had enough money to buy all that ACME crap, why didn't he just buy dinner?
If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, what is baby oil made from?
If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?
Do the Alphabet song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the same tune? Why did you just try singing the two songs above?
Why do they call it an asteroid when it's outside the hemisphere, but call it a hemorrhoid when it's in your butt?
Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog's face, he gets mad at you, but when you take him for a car ride, he sticks his head out the window?
Hmmmm and to think I went to college..........makes you wonder, huh?

Commercials

I think most of have at one time or another complained or whined, something in this nature, about commercials. I know I have.........see I am the over extended in girth lady with the squinty eyes in the 846,264, 971 row waving her hand and saying, "yup I have". If truth be know tho' I think we all have at least one or two favorites that we truly enjoy............
Windex is a trademark for a glass and light-duty hard surface cleaner manufactured since 1933 (currently by S. C. Johnson & Son) and popular in the United States and Canada since the mid-20th century.

Ok, first I am doing the above so I don't get in trouble.........I'm not sure if this is covering everything that should be covered, but I am doing me best.
Now to get to the commercial..........do you remember the two birds sitting on the power lines, and one of them goes and rings the doorbell, the guy inside goes to the door and of course no one is there, comes back and walks into the sliding glass doors............ok, in reality we - I, should be feeling sorry for this man.........but trust me, I just sit on the love seat and laugh until I am almost breathless.........it gets me every time...........every time .
www.luzianne.com
Luzianne tea has a new commercial out now, in fact if you click on the link above you can actually watch it................I love it. It just makes me feel so good........why...because I am at that stage in my life, that I wonder what would have happened if I had done this, or if I had done that.............of course I would have to surmise that this man's wife isn't feeling real secure..........but it is a good commercial.
The new AT&T commercial with the flowers coming out of the flowers............well what a combo for me...........flowers and kaliedescopes...........whoa...........that is a winner for sure. I tried to look for a site to put in the blog for this too, but to no avail............BUT I TRIED.
Last but not least we won't even mention the Hallmark commercials (in fact I haven't seen one in ages)....those, well just pass the facial tissues and pass the wastepaper basket..........whoa, those are usually real heart wrenches.........
So all in all, most of us do make fun of commercials, plan to change loads from washer to dryer, get up and get a drink........whatever...........but if we are to be brutally honest, there must at least one of two that you enjoy.............

Windows open.............

The windows are open today.........it's lovely. Being a northern gal, the opening of windows was the first sign that we "thought" that spring had arrived............most likely, especially in WY it was just an illusion. Spoke to my daughter yesterday and it had snowed..........MAN!!!!!!! But as always, I went out on a tangent............bet you're use to it by now, huh?
Open windows..........that wonderful, wonderful smell of fresh air.........especially today, as we had a thunderstorm of thunderstorms last night..........whoa, rock the boat baby!!!!!
The air smells so sweet and fresh...........I love it. I am listening to all types of birds cooing and cawing, scolding each other and then also having a silly little chatter from Walter, our squirrel..........ok, there are truly 56,458, 129 squirrels, but the boys don't realize it yet and they love "spotting" Walter - we even think Walter has a girlfriend now........you guessed it, Wanda.

Open windows also reminds me of a time gone by with no air-conditioning.........hmmm, think this could be also a nightmare........I need that air-conditioning. The buzz of the fans all over the house - if you played with paper dolls, it didn't take you long to learn not to play close to a fan........man what a mess to pick up all of those fancy schmancy movie star clothes!!!!! As a child I lived in an area that had BIG MAPLE TREES and oh did they give us shade and fun..................oh man, I am digressing again.
Open windows, so rarely do we see them now.........truly, think about it......in Texas, at least in our little neighborhood you don't even know if the windows are open or not.............they are the slide up type of windows.........so no clue until you get right up to the house.........oh well, they are open and I know it and like it...........it will be a rare day and I am going to appreciate it to the fullest.
Ok, another side trip, aren't I full of them today.........wouldn't you just love to go shopping with me.....well just certain days............I start out looking for - hmmmm, coffee mugs and end up in the pj department............just wandering around, oblivious of time.............good days. Here is a
photo of windows in Paris.........I just love it..........the old building, the vibrant colors...........I like color........but then again I like the crispness of white too............schucks,

I am just a well rounded woman, in more ways than one..........tee hee

psssst, we aren't going to Fiesta........it's ok, trust me.........we all need the stay-at-home time........there is always next year..........and if not, the world won't stop turning........

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear
bright until you hear them speak.
There are days when I am one of those people...........AMEN

FIESTA.......

It's fiesta time in San Antonio. It's crazy, it's wild, it's espensive, loud, rowdy, friendly and it happens each and every year.
In 1891, a group of ladies decorated horse-drawn carriages, paraded in front of the Alamo, and pelted each other with flower blossoms. The parade was organized to honor the heroes from the battles of the Alamo and San Jacinto.
That original Battle of Flowers parade became an annual event and has grown into a multi-cultural community celebration unlike any other in our country. From its small beginnings, Fiesta San Antonio has grown into an elaborate 10-day celebration featuring more than 100 events, including a parade where floats really float down the San Antonio River.

The above paragraph was the official version........
The sentences above that paragraph is what I "heard" about this wondrous and magical time of year in San Antonio. We have never been.........I heard rumors that we might attend this year on Saturday.....but who knows, the weather is suppose to include rain......sigh.

I have "heard" that parking is a premium......people have been known to go 4 - 5 am and sleep in their cars for a parking spot........I could do that. Those hotels/motels that are located along the parade route.........well forget getting a room there.....families pass those puppies on in wills.......I kid you not!!!!

Hats are a form of expression at fiesta too, I've "heard"........man I saw some funny ones and some weird ones on a site when I went searching......tee hee.......but who cares, these people have the spirit.

Now apparently there is another custom. This one comes with the floats and the royalty. People yell "Show me your shoes!" The ladies then lift up their gowns and have on their royal tootsie, the most outrageous and funny shoes possible..........again, this is what I "heard". Have no idea how or why this started, but who cares, it's sounds like fun.

Now speaking of royalty..........whoa...........trust me on this one, this fiesta has a king, queen, princesses, duchesses, pages, ladies-in-waiting........there are enough crowns and tiaras to go around and if you don't have sunglasses, you better buy some, because the jewels from the trains alone will blind you.........they are works of art..........and HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY . The ladies practise walking and standing wearing some sort of material that has actual small chains on it............
I would like to attend.................but part of me wants to avoid crowds.............you get to a certain age and the ram an jam, elbows in personal areas, strollers running up your ankles and loud noise, well ....................then again, we aren't going to be here forever, so why not experience part of the fun and culture of the area..........I'll let you know if we go or not.

which way should I go?

I truly did have an idea for today's blog..........I did. I started it a few minutes ago and I was typing away, and the more I typed, the more and more it was sounding like sermon......a full blown, raise your hands and arms into the air, amen, type sermon. Ok, I have preached to my kids, to friends, to relatives, but I am not going to preach and shake my finger at people out in internet land..........just not able to be that strong yet. Then I have something going on with my computer........have no idea what, but it just doesn't seem to be running as fast as it should........I need more something, but I don't know what I have now, so that I can go buy more of whatever it is I need..............brand name ........so I struggle along. It's ok, except for as slow as I am, adding the crawl of the computer to this............well if I were in a race with a snail..............take the sure bet and wager on the snail..........

So no topic today, just prattling..........jabber jawing.........me showing up and taking up precious space............there is always tomorrow, the busiest day of the week!

what length?

What length do you like your necklaces? Please oh please someone comment and help me out here. I am venturing slowly into the necklace world and I want to make and design things in the size or length that will please most people........me I like mine longer.........why???? Well I have a thick neck!!!!! and those turkey gobbler hangy down things that run on my paternal side of the family.........honest, all of this family, even the few skinny ones had these turkey hangy down things..........egads, couldn't get thick eyelashes, or to die for legs.............nope, got the turkey gobbler thingies!!!! So very few choker or short in length necklaces for me............and there so many beautiful ones out there too..........oh well, I am not going to whine about

something like that............this one to the left isn't mine, the one above is and the next one will be too................
I am just loving adding the ribbons to necklaces, but haven't limited myself to doing just those..........I just have to set aside some time and take some photos and go over to my site and TRY TO REMEMBER how to do the site........man, this remember things is starting to get to me......ok, again, please help me out with lengths here..........want to make what most people want.......not just what I am comfortable and want................thank you in advance.

sip sip sip

I am a drinker...........

I should just leave that statement alone and end for the day, but goodness, that would mean the whole day I would wander around regretting that I didn't share............and since I seem to be adult conversation deprived, I type away and pretend I am having conversations.
I am a drinker........I always seem to have some sort of liquid going. I am a diet Coke drinker and if I can get the decaffienated gold can, then even better. I am into the Crystal Lite drinks too......especially the teas. Sadly I do have a problem with acid drinks........orange juice, lemonade, and limeade. At one point in my life I was totally addicted to grapefruit juice.....I mean I was drinking that liquid like crazy..........ended up with some severe problems in the stomach area............so sadly I have to watch the acid drinks. I Spearfish SD, the second or maybe it is the third week-end of the month, they have this wonderful arts and crafts show in the park............now there is a booth that makes this to die for lemon and lime ade..............you guessed it, the Rock of Gilbraltor just caves in and drinks that limeade like there is no tomorrow........well I usually have two, one there and one to go home on.............a very special treat for me.
I have no idea why I am writing this liquid saga................guess because I saw the graphic of the peach drink and it just looked yum-dilly-ious. So I looked up peach spritzer and the two sites that I looked on didn't have a particular recipe for peach spritzer, just fruit spritzers in general here it is

FRUIT SPRITZER

1 can unsweetened frozen juice concentrateClub soda
Mix frozen juice concentrate according to directions on the can, substituting club soda for water.

I am trying and doing a much better job of it too, of drinking water. I always try to have a container of water in the car when I drive and of course when I go to the gym I take water with me..............I am tryingto make it the drink of choice when I am beading too, just fill a glass up with a kazillion ice cubes and water and bead away.............so I think that would give me an "atta girl" mark in the good column..........don't you?

I've talked about my coffee drink............you know pretend grown-up coffee.
The one that I have 90% creamer, 2 artificial sweetner packets, and 8% coffee.............it's good. My grandchildren like it and all of thier parents think that I have ruined them for life............shoot, my Da did it to me, so I truly believe that I should and have introduced them to this wonderful drink.
No rhyme or reason for this particular topic today.........just rambling on and on and on and on.............

We survived

Before I get started, this is not our party, but one from the Flickr site that was free for the taking........I do search flickr quite a bit for photos..........

Now that, that is over, we survived. We survived a slumber party for my grandson who turned 7. It was a co-ed party.......oh come on now, they are kids and I am sorry, they have no idea what is going on, except that they are friends and have a good time together, so that out of the way; all in all it went quite well. Oh it was a wee bit rowdy at first.........but as the evening went on, everyone got mellow and we watched a movie, and those that couldn't stay the night, I walked home and my daughter got those that stayed settled down................and of course my abode is downstairs..........so I was oblivious to everything after that. I was impressed with the good manners showed and get this one.........I think the girls out dramatized the boys!!!!! Ok, this is coming from the drama queen of my generation..........I can be good too! I love little girls, I love the foo-foo and the drama, I miss my grand daughters (all of my grandchildren are missed terribly, so lets get that cleared up before anything comes of that one), mostly because of the girly stuff that I love, but sadly, looks rather sad and pathetic on a woman of my age.............shoot, I have glitter for my hair..........don't use it anymore, but I WANT to!!!!
Any ways, the girls added the drama to the party, the boys totally oblivious to any of it and in their own world............egads, such an eye opener for things to come.....right?
Parents arrived on time to pick them up, my daughter has the house cleaned up already, and except for some wilting balloons, and new toys that need to have the 486,932, 027 plastic things unwound from the cardboard, and left over cake.............oh please give me strength in this department.........and it's white cake too...........homemade (ok Duncan)!!!!!!!!! You would never know that we had 9 boys and girls here from 4pm yesterday afternoon until 9am this morning.
I have to admit that I was rather dreading the whole thing, but I am Nana enough to admit that I shouldn't have.........it went well............no horror tales to share, no funnies that truly stuck out...........ooooo, a semi little one. I got my grandson an outfit and a computer game...........he was excited about the computer game (one of those $9.99 disc things) but really blase' about the clothes.......we laughed, and one of the little boys looks at me and says "It's ok, that's what Nanas are suppose to buy.........clothes." Cracked me up.............

Every one of us lives this life just once; if we are honest, to live once is enough.
— Greta Garbo

I have no idea why I chose Greta Garbo today.........except that a few days ago it was the anniversary of her death and I wondered how many people remember her. I was not a Greta Garbo fan, knew very little about her, except the famous line " I want(vont) to be alone". So of course I went on a search.........here is what I found - well I found other sites that gave quite a bit more information about her personal life...........some of which I wasn't sure how it would be received, so I will share the site and you can read it if you like..............here is a smaller site:

Biography
Greta Garbo was born Greta Lovisa Gustafsson on September 18, 1905. Garbo was born in Stockholm to poor parents. She went to work at age 14, first as a lather girl in a barbershop, then as a clerk in a department store and as a model.
In her first motion picture, Luffar-Petter (1922), she played a bathing beauty. From 1922 to 1924 she studied at the Royal Dramatic Theatre, Stockholm. During that period met Mauritz Stiller, the foremost Swedish director, who gave her an important role in Gösta Berlings Saga (1924; "The Story of Gösta Berling"), gave her the stage name Greta Garbo, and trained her in cinema-acting techniques.
In 1925, when Stiller went to the United States to work for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, he insisted that Garbo be given a contract also. In all, she appeared in 27 films (two in Sweden, one in Germany, and the remainder in Hollywood); the most important of her silent films were The Torrent (1926), Flesh and the Devil (1927) and Love (1927), both with the popular leading man John Gilbert, whose name was linked with hers in a much-publicized romance.
Anna Christie (1930) was the talking picture in which her rich, low voice was first heard. It was a great success, although Garbo herself despised her performance. It earned her the first of her four Academy Award nominations for best actress. That same year, Garbo earned another Academy Award nomination for her role in Romance.
Garbo was her most seductive playing the WWI spy in Mata Hari (1932). So much so that the censors complained of the revealing outfit shown on the movie poster. Her next film that year was Grand Hotel, with one of the first all star casts. The film earned MGM it’s second Best Picture Oscar.
After almost 2 years off the screen, Garbo signed a new MGM contract granting her almost total control over her films. She exercised that control by getting leading man Laurence Olivier fired from her film, Queen Christina (1934), and forcing Mayer to replace him with former co-star and lover John Gilbert, who’s career had faltered since the coming of sound.
In 1935, David O. Selznick wanted Garbo cast as the dying heiress in Dark Victory, but she insisted on a screen version of Leo Tolstoy's classic novel, Anna Karenina. She had already starred in a silent version, Love (1927), with John Gilbert.
Many have called Garbo's performance as the doomed coutesan in Camille (1937) the finest ever recorded on film. Some fans even claimed that during the star's climatic death scene they saw her soul leave her body. Not surprisingly, this role earned her a third Academy Award nomination.
Director Ernst Lubitsch’s finest work of the 1930s was the classic Ninotchka (1939). It starred Garbo—in a comedy! "Garbo Laughs" said the advertisements. And she does, charmingly. Ninotchka earned Garbo the last of her four Academy Award nominations.
At age 36, after the flop of her film, Two Faced Woman (1941), Garbo withdrew from the entertainment field and retired to a secluded life in New York City. In 1954 she was awarded a special Academy Award for unforgettable performances.
Garbo died on April 15, 1990, in New York, N.Y. She was one of the most glamorous and popular stars of the motion pictures of the 1920s and '30s.
Garbo had, in the opinion of her directors and most critics, a perfect instinct for doing the right thing before the camera. Her talent, her great beauty, and her indifference to public opinion made her career unique in the history of the cinema.
Biography taken partly from http://www.cmgww.com/stars/garbo/ggbio.html and Britannica OnLine's entry on "Greta Garbo."

Here is the other site that I found
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greta_Garbo and that goes into much more detail

So today it is Greta Garbo, aren't cha' just dying with anticipation to know what I will do tomorrow........I am thinking that this blog really is a mirror of me (it's me I think), no rhyme or reason............just because

TIME

If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save everyday 'til eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
Time, such a precious item.........you can't hold it, you can't bottle it, you can't truly save it up for future use, and you have to reach a certain age to appreciate that it is truly a gift.
I know that some of you haven't reached the age yet where time is one of your most precious commodities........hmmm, I don't really know what that magical number is either.........think it comes earlier to some people, and for others I don't think they ever realize that time is precious.......I have reached that time in my life when I do understand that every moment gone
is precisely that......gone.
When someone gives me some of their time, well it just means so much to me....oh I'm not going to get all flowery and weepy, but I do want to let everyone that has shared their time with me know that I truly was thankful. It could have been an email, a phone call, a wonderful and almost a lost art, something in the mail....a luncheon, a beautiful smile on the street or store, those precious hugs or sweet child kisses that will soon be lost.............these all took time.
Time, another part of time: alarm clocks...................man I detest alarm clocks. Oh don't even start with suggestions. Buy a cute one, buy a feminine one, buy a sleek ultra "I can do
everything" model................I don't like them. I don't like a machine telling me when to get up..........never have, never will. I like to sleep..........amen. Not going to apologize, once I am asleep, I want to stay that way until my body tells me it has had enough and I wake up on my own. I have tried the cute little wake up songs, the radio (and San Antonio has a wonderful radio station, KONO 101.1, that plays THE best music ever.......60's - 70's ) and now alas, since I CAN and DO sleep through the music, I have had to resort to those horrible buzzer things............(man a few times I have slept through those too!)

Now another thing attached to time: wristwatches. I wear one, always have, and think I always will. I like knowing what time it is..........now either you are a wearer or you aren't. For awhile it seemed like that all of my kids were asking me what time it was, along with certain friends......ok, I got an attitude a few times and came up with the horrid answer " TIME for you to buy a watch." RUDE, huh? Sorry to those I have said it to.........at first it was meant to be funny, but after a while I did mean it........sorry.
I like to be on time too.......I keep my watch and clock in the van a wee bit ahead of schedule.............BUT, sadly I don't think I can claim that I am on time anymore........I mean I can get distracted so easily and EVERYTHING it seems takes soooooooooo much longer to do too...........everything. So, I now have to try double hard to be on time and that just has put pressure on me and makes me more rattled........sigh...........
So all in all, time to me is a precious gift........one that I do treasure.........each moment to me on this earth is a gift and if you share some of yours with me, please know that even if I don't vocalize it, I do appreciate it and want to thank you.

pssssst, I was singing the words to TIME IN A BOTTLE wrong too.........man I don't know if this blog is building my self esteem or not..........sigh

To make or not to make..........

To make or not to make, that is the question............do you? Make your bed each day? Well do you? It's ok if you don't, honest it is..........trust me on this. There are no bed making police in the world who will swoop down and strike you sleepless if you don't make your bed..........really!!!!

I think I can safely say, that everyone at one time or another has left their bed unmade..........ok, you over there with you hand in the air, waving like some silly nilly...........just stop it...........you are the one in 485,472, 110 people what who have.......pblllllllllllt!!!!!!! Now there seems to be rules on how you make your bed..............see first comes make or no make, now come the rules on how to make it..........see it gets more complicated.

This site shows you how to make it the old-fashion way ........http://www.ehow.com/how_1987_make-bed.html?ref=fuel&utm_source=yahoo&utm_medium=ssp&utm_campaign=yssp_art. (oops, see there is that big ole' blank spot in the blog........and I have done everything but jump into the screen and manually tried pulling the words beside the picture........). Now this site is almost the same, but a wee bit of difference http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Your-Be see the pillows are outside of the coverlet/bedspread

I don't know, I learned with the bedspread over the pillow method, but that was waaaaaay before all of the coverlets, duvets, and beautiful quilts became more accessible to us "common" folk.............you know I have to agree that a bed that is made, makes the messiest bedroom look more pulled together...........but I also know that if you don't make your bed each and everyday, well you are still a good person............you are. So I don't care if you make or don't make your
bed, I truly don't..........why, because I think there is just to much pressure put on people by others..............yes I do (for the most part make my bed) but will I stop being your friend if you don't..........nope, you're stuck with me.........and again it was just one of those things that popped into my mind the other day while I was looking at some pictures on the internet and thought "well here is a good question to put on the blog.".......plus it was fun looking at all of the pretty bedrooms..........wonder if anyone will even comment on "to make or not to make"?

My poor classic record

Ya know what, after doing my little dissertation on ALICE yesterday, I realized something.........I am truly under read in the classics. Now is this going to affect world peace.......no. Is this going to make the world stop turning...............no. Is this going to make me a better Nana.................no. Actually it only makes me wonder how it happened? I went to good schools..........most of them private Catholic schools..........so you would think that the classics would have been encouraged (hmmmm, a polite way of saying read this or else.) I have never read TOM SAWYER, UNCLE Tom's CABIN, DAVID COPPERFIELD, TALE OF TWO CITIES.....man this list is becoming rather an embarrassment. Now I have read Shakespeare, Silas Mariner, the Scarlett Letter, Little Women, Little Men, Jane Eyre, and Robinson Crusoe. SO all in all I am not a total heathen in the classics...........like most young girls I fell in love with all of the sisters in Little Women wanted to be like Jane Eyre and was totally outraged and angered in reading the Scarlett Letter. Now Silas Mariner was something we read as a class in mu junior year in high school......I rather liked that too.........some of Shakespeare was ok..........all in all I guess I held my own in what I read...........I wonder, do they still have to read classics in high school anymore? I was studying to be an English Lit major/teacher/ in college, which sadly I was unable to finish.........and that was ok for many reasons..........and I remember the semester I had to drop out, I was in a class that was totally Shakespeare and with a professor that had horror stories about her that would make a vampire/ogre tremble in their boots...........so I am not to upset about missing that part of my education..........tee hee.. Like I said, the world is still turning, and world peace is no closer today than it was yesterday, so all in all my ignorance of the classics has effected no one but myself............and now I am opening being truthful here..........I just don't have that much strength or fortitude to start them now..........if this makes me a heathen, then slap my name in capital letters on the top of the list...........me, I have beading to do, movies to watch, grandchildren to read to, laundry to do, oh yeah, and this blog to write..........see I have important "stuff" to tend to ...................

of cabbages and kings

Do you like ALICE IN WONDERLAND? I think you either really like it, or like me, don't like it at all.........well now I have to stop, as I think of many things in Alice in Wonderland, so someone that truly didn't like the movie (alas, I have to admit that I have never read the "true" and full edition of the story, I do have many and varied mental scenes attached to my cranium with this title.

Remember when Alice is talking to Tweedledee and Tweedledum and they ask her if she likes poetry? Well, I can't remember which one of them recites the poem 'The Walrus and the Carpenter", but one of my most favorite "lines, sayings" whatever, comes from that.........why, because I think it just about explains me........

“The time has come,” the Walrus said,“To talk of many things:Of shoes—and ships—and sealing wax—Of cabbages—and kings—And why the sea is boiling hot—And whether pigs have wings.”

Who cares about any of the above subjects, but good gravy, I bet I could prattle on about half of them..........sad, huh? Or is it? When I was trying to think of a name for my business (well I like to call it a business), I wanted to use those words.........of cabbages and kings...........and everyone that I shared that with, just looked at me.........with this totally blank look on their faces. I truly think they wanted to either laugh in my face or slap me along side the head to make sure that I was still in this world.........thus, I left .....of cabbages and kings.........with Tweedledee and Tweedledum............look at these two, man I wouldn't stop and ask for directions from them, would you?

Another line or conversation that I like is this one.....

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked."Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.""How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice."You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Look at that cat..........and he disappears................man don't talk to me about the 60's...........and trust me, I didn't get to be a flower child at all........nope came from a really strict home, no free love or opinions for me!!!
Ok, there a bazillion sites on the internet dedicated to this novel/movie (and I guess there are ballets too?).............me, I just remember little snippets here and there..........you know, like.............of cabbages and kings

Spring bouquets

Ok, I'm hooked on flowers...........have admitted that already. I am also that person who LOVES fresh bouquets. There are people who feel that flowers shouldn't be picked, but left alone in the garden to go "au natural"..........shoot there are also people who feel that if God wanted us to have little holes in our ears, to wear ear rings, that he would have put those little extra holes in our ears. So we have to opposite opinions and that is good .

Me, I love bouquets, they just make me feel happy. The colors, the smell, and the variety..........man there are so many different types of bouquets to choose from. Then

I read in GOOD HOUSEKEEPING about forcing different flowers.........like one of my childhood favorites

pussy willows.........does anyone even see pussy willows growing any more? I know I haven't in ages. In this article in the magazine, they just have the cutest way of showing off the various forces branches of spring flowers..........

My son-in-law tries to bring home to my daughter each Friday a bouquet of flowers. Isn't that romantic? He usually stops and picks up those flowers that you arrange yourself in your own vase...........well the past few weeks they have had these wonderful little branches with red berries on them..........have no idea what they are, but I sure do like them . Below is another flower that I have been introduced to .................the Gerber Daisy...........maybe I have seen them before, but I don't remember them------ok, no comment on the strength of myGinko Biloba dosage!!!!! I do like flowers, and again for those of you that only want them in the garden and not picked, that is fine. I respect your feelings and opinions........me well bring me a bouquet of flowers and I will just follow you anywhere............
