Come sit..........

Thank you, Peggy and Diane.......I truly appreciate you sharing your snowmen art with me..........more than anything I appreciate that you took the time to share them.......trust me, I know sitting down and finding the time to do something like this is a gift in itself.

Come on up, sit a spell. Ok, so it's not my porch, well not in real life...........but you know me, I do sometimes live in an imaginary world (and people actually KNOW me there too !!!!) I think I have mentioned before that I love porches.........I know I do love them, or do I love the idea of what they use to represent?

Since I have never lived in a home that had an actual porch.....ooooo, wait a minute, I did.......egads I did. No I really did. It was in my first marriage and let's say that much of that marriage has slowly faded away.......it was a neat porch too. No pictures tho'........sometimes it was so totally loaded with boxes and junque (I love when you spell a word a fancy way and it makes it look better than "junk"). It wasn't open, it had glass windows and only one or two of them had screens (the other windows were always permanently closed), the door had a screen in it for the summer months. So maybe it wasn't a true porch, but it wasn't a room in the house either. Then I cleaned it up and put odds and ends of furniture and did enjoy. Man, I wonder if the people who own it now enjoy it? Sigh, well I wandered again, didn't I?

When I dream and fantasize about porches, I see people sitting there, relaxing, talking, reading, taking naps.......ok, I am seeing movies, huh? But didn't families use to gather on porches? Didn't neighbors gather in the evenings and talk about important subjects like world series, cars, recipes?

I remember as a young girl, that my mum and neighbor ladies would sit on what we called the "stoop". The concrete/cement stairs leading up to the front door. The two of us would sit there too......share some good talks, giggles, serious talks too. There was time to do this..........

I know for a fact in this household there is no time to do that. We have swimming lessons, after school tutoring, homework that has to be done four out of the five nights (2nd grade!!!) one night after school my oldest grandson belongs to a school activity club (which is good for him). We rarely eat dinner before 6-6:30, my daughter doesn't get home EVER before 6:30.......so we rarely see her at the dinner/supper table. Forget the week-ends........384,938, 100 errands, birthday parties, functions, shopping type events have to take place, mass, Sunday school..........there is NO TIME!

So I guess the lack of a porch is a good thing for me.........it would lead to frustration, sadness and melancholy (does anyone use that word 'melancholy' any more?).
I would like a porch, the magazine picture and floor plans of my "someday home" that I have tucked away to look and dream about has a small porch on it......so I shall go look at it, touch it gently and dream.........
Smile friends, smile.........

You are so welcome.

Your life sounds like mine! I think I am busier now with grandkids than I was with my own kids. But I love every minute of it...well almost all of them.

Ok i see your comment about the picture!

Porches are my dream-my absolute dream. I hope to have a nice one that I can decorate and relax on before I croak.
