Penmanship

Love the little cardinal sitting on this fella's arm. When I saw my first cardinal in Texas I was soooo excited. We didn't have cardinals in Why-oh-ming and they are such beautiful birds.....my older friend told me they are in Michigan, but I don't remember seeing them when I lived there.......sigh.......but of course being a teen-ager, college student , a wildly in love young woman and then raising young children, I am guessing I didn't take a whole lot of time to look at Mother Nature.
Penmanship:
Please oh please, someone, anyone, please tell me that you remember actual penmanship class. I KNOW for a fact that it wasn't just parochial schools that had that class, because I did attend public school for awhile and I remember having the little booklet with the lines and the required number of practise letters to accomplish correctly........see I said correctly.........not just the required amount..........the required, correct amount. I am truly, truly thinking that I have just answered my own question, on what happen to teaching nice handwriting. It's like so many other things that have gone the way of being only a memory.........we live in a rush rush world where things are pushed aside, or (and I do believe this) don't do anything to upset the child, or he or she may turn into some sort of mass murderer. Honestly........real life isn't like that, it isn't like "no child left behind" where if they receive a grade of 70 or under they get to do their paper over and over so that they get a passing grade.........now I suppose if you don't have a child in school you weren't aware of that..........yup, they get to do their everyday homework/school-work over. Ok, I got off on another whole tangent.........penmanship. My Da (my maternal grandfather)
Yup, that's him reading me the funnies.......he had penmanship........sadly the only piece that I have, I gave to my daughter in Why-oh-ming and she has it framed with his picture of him in his sailor's uniform from WWI. His handwriting had this type of look to it......
Honestly....... oh,not the bottom section, but the top........flowing and beautiful...........trust me, it was just pleasing to the eye and so legible. My own penmanship isn't that bad.........I know it isn't as good as it use to be.........I too have fallen off the path of pen and paper.........oh I still try to send my cards out to friends and family with a small note or written message inside..........but not long letters like we use to do..........nope, email and Word has also invaded and took hold of me too.......

Love the cartoon on the left.....pretty much says it all, doesn't it? I borrowed all of the photos from flkr, well not the one of me and my Da, and while I was there I found some very interesting famous signatures..........here are a few.

Now Mr. Stewart's
handwriting is quite legible isn't it? Here let me find another one.

Not sure if you can make this one out........Lucille Ball..........I Love Lucy.........very nice penmanship.

Humphrey Bogart's handwriting was quite clear too.

You mention this to people and they laugh if off......it's not important......sigh, I guess in the complete picture of mankind and world peace it isn't.......just a nicety. I like nice........

Hey, not only have I smiled today, but I laughed and laughed. called my cousin while I was sitting in the car waiting to pick up my grandson........goodness, we were cracking up.......see, I'm smiling now, just thinking about it.......tee hee.......smiles and laughter, it is just good for your physical and mental health.......oh and your soul.
