The easiet and least expensive way..........

Did you know that I like Mary Engelbreit? Ok, so sometimes I like to throw out a little humor with sarcasm........tee hee.

The easiest and least expensive way to change your homes................PAINT. Now you either love to paint or you don't. More women like to paint the rooms inside of their homes than men do. I don't know how I know that, I just do! Me, I always liked the whole process.........thinking about it, going and getting the 403,872,633,843 paint chips and taping them to the wall, trying to remember to look at them both in the natural light and the lamp light (I am a big lamp person.....), now this part I wasn't thrilled with..........moving all of the furniture and piles, covering them and the floor...........and if I had plenty of time, I never minded taping off either. The last place I lived, well let me say, if someone had ever told me I would have been living in that particular area or in that run down of a place I would have fainted. I was determined........and determination paid off. The rooms that I was able to conquer and take on actually did improve.........oh, I am not patting myself on the back, but it is true, a can a paint, sometimes a wall paper border........and whoa, what a difference it can make.............sadly I have no pictures. I am thinking I was living in a no picture taking time of my life.............

Fake Centuries of Wear
Trowel on thin layers of paint to create the timeworn look of aged Venetian plaster in minutes instead of centuries. It then give detailed instructions how to do this..........I love this look.

Mimic the Look of Metal
Layer a base coat, metallic glaze, and interference paints to get the shimmering effect of real metal on your walls. Now this isn't something that I would put in my home, but I do like this look........and it is so totally different for me.
Get Gingham Style
Can you believe a coat of paint and a notched squeegee gives furniture such a fabulous country-sweet paint treatment? Wouldn't this be cute in a little girl's room or a nursery?

Marbleize for Dignified Decor. I have always wanted to take a stab at this technique...........thinking it would take some practise, to make it look natural and not, hmmmm, cheesey?????? The next one I got a kick out of.........have you ever gone into a bathroom at a restaurant and one of the employees has offered to generously to paint it for the owner.........and did they do it???? Yup, you've there too..........the sponge two colors together technique.........I am not being a snob, but I know, this too takes practise.......it really does.............

This next one I had never heard of............

Watercolored Wall
Color-washed walls bring movement and drama to a room's vertical surfaces. The technique is simple to master and you can layer on as many tones as you like; the more layers you add, the more interesting the finish. It is done kind of like the sponge technique........a wee bit differently.......I like it.
I've never done this one either, but always wanted to.........maybe someday.
I love looking at the different sites and looking at rooms.........drifting away in my own little world, making up stories of who lives there, what they do, what I would do if I lived there..........one should always have a few dreams and special "mind" places to go...........
Smile........It is a beautiful sunny day here in Texas........not to hot, just right............puts a smile on my face for sure.
