Here I am........

I disappeared, didn't I? Sorry, I just seemed to slip into some type of slump..........no beading, no card making, no stitching....in fact I didn't leave the house at all Saturday or Sunday........nope, not even church..........I wasn't sad, I wasn't angry, I wasn't anything I guess..............just in a slump.
Now this is what I wish I could tell you...........I was in New Orleans, frolicking and dancing, catching beads, drinking hurricanes from Pat O'Brien, listening to good music, from jazz to Irish ballads, seeing beeeeeeeeee-utiful costumes and all in all having a care-free, fun lov'n time. Sigh, alas I can not lie............BUT............I did do that once. I did it, when I was young and single (well I was engaged at the time), when I thin, shoulder length, ash blonde (with a little help from a box) hair, no cares, no mortgage and I partied with a famous movie star.........for one evening........I had fun. Laissez Les Bon Temps Roule!!!! Let the good times roll!!!!
Which of course leads me up to what I wanted to share.........I didn't do the costume thing......but I drooled over some of the exquisite masks...........like the following.

Traditional colors of purple, green and gold.........I LOVE the feathers.

Now, here are some truly, ok what I think are truly beautiful masks.

Did you notice that the lady on the right is wearing matching purple lipstick.......

This last photo makes me smile the most......doesn't this lady just look like she is having the best time of her life..........I love it.

Mardi Gras has to be experienced first hand and I am glad that I have. I can sit back and close my eyes and just feel the happiness and total freedom that I felt while I was there. I went with another girl from work and we stayed with her great aunt. She was quite the character, and she lived in one of the typical bungalow type homes in New Orleans..........it was such an experience.

The sun is shining here.......but it is chilly right now.........I have smiled already...........how can I not smile when I start out the day with two little boys who come up with the most unexpected and wonderful comments.................

Oh wow, we spent the weekend in exactly the same way...being in a slump and not doing anything! lol If you read my post from this morning, you'll see what I mean!! Must be the February blues going around!!!

Such wonderful memories you must have of actually having been part of the Mardi Gras celebrations...that's one thing I've never experienced, only seen on tv. Hmmmm, who was this famous movie star you had partied with??? Inquiring minds want to know:-) hehe Love all those masks and some of them are so intricate. What fun to be able to choose a costume and mask:-) xoxo

I was just in New Orleans for Mardi Gras but I have to tell you I was so disappointed! It is not a safe place to be anymore. Seven innocent people including a baby were shot on the last day. We felt the strange feeling of not being safe and left the next day after we arrived. We ventured to the Mardi Gras French Q. the first day during the day then hubby and I went back in the evening. We decided not to return for the last day parades it was a good thing we didn't because who knows that might have been my baby who was grazed with a bullet! So very sad....
