Spring tablesettings.......

all pictures are from Country Living

I know I have talked about center pieces before and I know I will again........trust me, we do not set out table like this.........I would be happy if all five of us could sit down together and eat. That is another story all together, any ways, I found these photos on the Country Living site and wanted to share them with you........it was what got me started thinking about the pastel colors vs the darker shades.........

I know people use quilts as table cloths, but I would be scared to death that I would be the person that would spill something that wouldn't come out of it.........and watch it be an heirloom......but isn't this setting relaxing. I love hydrangeas. Last year, my daughter came home with a mixed bouquet from one of the big bulk stores........it had lots of hydrangeas in it plus lots and lots of other flowers. She always has me do the floral arranging.......and I love to do it.........so I took the hydrangeas and put them in a vase all by themselves........I was thrilled........it was the first time that I had ever had them to work with. The other flowers went into another arrangement........maybe two. The next morning I woke up and went straight to the dining room to see the hydrangeas...........deader than a door nail!!!! I didn't, but I almost burst into tears.......my daughter kept saying, "It's ok Mom, it's ok." Poor sil wanted to comfort me, but I don't think he knew what to say...............I just turned and walked out to the kitchen. It was a few minutes later and then I heard this giggle......then laughter. My daughter comes in with the vase and dead hydrangeas...........NO WATER!!!!! Shoot, I murdered the pretty hydrangeas........set me off on another almost crying jag, that led to uncontrollable laughter............

This isn't a total table setting, but wow.......cloth napkins and as a napkin ring, an old set of buttons.......still on the card!!!!! Oh man, I'd be blurting out......."Can we take the buttons home?".........I would, I know I would. Right now we are paper napkins.......mentioned someday would like to use the cloth.........the look I received from my daughter and the laughter from my sil tells me that until the boys are grown men it isn't going to happen...........tee hee..........
I saved the best until last............mixed match chairs, flowers, a chandelier !!!! and surrounded by flowers........it's like out of a novel. Now here I would have slathered myself with sun protection and just sit and sit and sit and sit....... I would probably wear my straw hat and have either tied a scarf around it or stuck some flowers on it.......others would leave and I would still be sitting there admiring the flowers and having a smile on my face............

Such beautiful place settings and arrangements! Like you, I would be terrified of spilling anything on the quilt if I used one as a tablecloth...I can be such a klutz at times! lol I had to giggle at you forgetting to put water in the vase of hydrangeas, haven't we all done something like that? hehe That last picture had me oohing and aahing. I wish I had a more private back yard with lots of trees and flowers, I would love to have a setting like that. xoxo
