What is a Winkie????

picture taken from Google photos

I mentioned before that my oldest grandson was in a production of the Wizard of Oz. It was presented by the Missoula Children's Theatre - a production group that travels all of the United States and quite a few countries to put on plays with the local children participating in the play. It is a wonderful thing..........not only for the children that are luck enough to perform in the play, but also for the parents and grandparents to sit and watch their little honey bunnies act.

Now Daniel was given the role of a Winkie. Now we all "assumed" what a Winkie was and we were right, but this character is the equivalent of the flying monkies in the movie

Our young thespian remembered his one line " Oh o, you're going to get it!", his body movements and his mouth was moving during the songs, so hopefully he was singing and not lip syncing like Nilly Vanilla! When we questioned him about what his costume looked like, he was quite tight-lipped, but on the side he told me. "Nana, we are like the Flying Monkies, but we look like bats." They did...........here are a few snapshots of my young budding actor.

Here is one of the whole cast
Sadly, none of the snapshots are going to win any prizes at the local county fair........but that's ok....it was a wonderful afternoon and something that he will remember for a long long time.

It's Tuesday........have you smiled yet? The sun is shining here and it's not unbearably warm either, so that alone has put a smile on my face............
