Thursday....

At the dock in Olde Towne Alexandria, VA
I am trying so hard to keep blogging daily....it's almost 7:20 pm and it just dawned on me that I hadn't opened my blog and shared anything. Part of me said, 'don't worry, no one is reading the silly thing' and the other part of me said 'you just get over to that blog and at least put in a blog-a-day post'....look who won!
All of the photos in the past few post have been mine......I am so in love with my camera - have no idea what half of the buttons and settings are for, but I do love it

Jellies

Jellies, and not the shoe type either.  I think this is one of my most favorite things in any aquarium, jelly fish.  These beauties float upside down and are the prettiest shades of white and beige.  The smaller ones do lift up and struggle to swim upward, and some do, but you can tell that it is so much work for them, they just surrender to mother nature and go back to the group.

I am not going to add many comments to this post, as the beauty of these magnificent creatures are more that words can share.

The jellies above, are what I would consider your run of the mill jellies, and yet there is nothing ordinary about them, they look so fragile and graceful.

The jellies below are so photogenic.  They weren't fast movers, and actually one or two of them hardly seemed to move at all.

Wonder what happened to this dudes tentacles?

Aren't the ruffles beautiful?  Have no idea how the ruffles all by themselves happened....

I finally realized that my grandson and I were the only members of the family left in the jelly room........so we did another quick walk about and left to find the rest of the family.....easy find, they were seated in the small food court right outside..............but lo and behold, look what was there!

JELLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Baltimore Aquarium - again

Did you say water?  It doesn't matter in what form, stream, river, pond, lake, swimming pool, fountain, puddles, and the best of all, "my" ocean, it draws me in and makes it super hard to remove me.....I just love the whole water/aquatic thing.  So when the kids said that we were going to Baltimore to visit the aquarium again, I didn't hesitate.......I was up early and ready to go!!!!!  Now in all truthfulness, the real reason we were going to Baltimore is that my daughter had seen some wonderful place, Joe Squared, on Diners, Dives and Drive-Ins that makes square pizzas that are out of this world.....so we made a combo trip.

I am in love with the harbor area of Baltimore.  The aquarium is situated in this really eclectic neighborhood, with malls, restaurants, boats........a three story Barnes and Noble (hmmm, better back up, I think it is a three story Barnes and Nobles, as I haven't actually been in it, but that is what it looks like..........hate to assume anything these days) and on top on the same building that holds this famous book store, is the GIGANTIC guitar, advertising the Hardrock restaurant.  It is humongous, and I love the industrial look of the four stacks and the weathered brick of the building.......so into the aquarium.

First stop was the gift shop.........lots of variety and price ranges - nothing called out to me enough to open my purse............but some things called out to be photographed.

Little humor here, I didn't pull the sign out from the back that had Welcome on it........lately I haven't been scoring to many points in the graceful department, so I didn't want any scenes in the gift shop.

Now here is my train of thought........EVERYONE had to pay to enter this establishment.  Manners should be used.  Little children are overwhelmed with this adventure and should be allowed to stand up front and close.....the elderly should not be mowed down because they don't move as quickly.  Amen.  The other thing is, if you all paid the same amount to enter (ok, some exceptions, but still money was exchanged), if I want to stand in front of the grouper tank for 10 minutes, and as long as I am standing to the side and not smack dab in front of the tank, then what am I hurting.
Will share some other photos that I took..........now please don't ask me the names of the fish.......the above is obvious, some type of eel............below, I have no idea, but this fellow has the most amazing whiskers.  They truly are feather like, not hard or sharp (ok, so I didn't touch them, but through the pane of glass, they seemed  to wave and wiggle, not sharp and sturdy)
A real seahorse.....and he/she was the only one in this exhibit.....last time I thought there were a whole bunch...but then again, my remember er isn't that great.

I know the name of the following two fish, but for the life of me I can't think of their names..........
This dude seemed to have something stuck in what to us, would be our nostrils.  My grandson and I kept standing there and waiting for him to blow it out..........we were having a great time rooting for him.....sigh, sadly we had to move along before he accomplished this feat.
The anemones were beautiful and graceful as always, not as colorful though.....but it is the dreary season of winter (tongue in cheek)
Now this anemone is called a brain anemone (someone shared this information with us - so I am trusting that this person knows his anemones).  I could have watched this forever, the outside arms (?) just move so gracefully and it just seems to have an overall swaying to it.

Turtles seem to have a new fascination for me, so had to add these handsome creatures.
See his/her super super long neck?  I am sure that his/her facial features are perfectly normal, but to us looking in, it just had this really sad looking expression.
These guys below, they were in with the crocodile....I am sure they are perfectly safe, but they truly did look like they were hiding out.

Here are the last two photos of the aquarium......oooo, you want to see the jelly fish, come back tomorrow.....did I take pictures of the jellies.

Today's blog:
Not only beautiful photos, but good music......no not rock'n roll, but good old gospel/bluegrass.  I like all types of music.

Handsome fella, huh?  Love the greenery he is sitting on.  I wish I could find cool stuff like this....I seem to be only able to find the "normal" stuff.  Any ideas where to find stuff  like this?

Color

I Like color.  It doesn't always have to be bright and vivid.  The soft hues of pink, lilac and misty green are just as beautiful to me, as the bright splashes of red, navy and copper.  Maybe that is why I chose this blog today, it has color.  Of course, the lady that writes this blog states that she creates art and designs handbags.........yells color to me.

I am sure that all of you (hmmm, thinking "all of you" is myself and maybe the blogger that I feature each day, but that is ok......I will continue to blog on.), are familiar with Pinterest.  I have a whole board, just dedicated to color..........well me and about a bajillion other pinners.

It's an overcast and dreary day here in Alexandria, so I am thinking that I have a few choices.
1. Finish my flower pins (will share when I have them completed)
2. Start my friends jewelry pieces that she requested.
3.  Play in my art journal.
4.  Cross stitch

Windows

Good morning.  The kids (my kids that is) are having the windows replaced in the entire house today.  Hoping to achieve more warmth in the winter and cooler in the summer.  All of the windows are the original, and this home was built in the 50s.  Hmmmm, looking at them now, I don't think that is right, as they look newer than what I can remember of the 50's windows.

I like windows and doors, while in Charleston this last November I took photo after photo of doors.  Before we moved from the rental home, I did a walk-about in that neighborhood and took pictures of doors there too.  I am addicted to windows also, sadly I have not learned to take pictures of windows without the glass glaring back on me......

There are so many styles, shapes, multi panes, picture, bay and I am certain many more descriptive words to tell the story of windows...........I am no expert, I just like them

Looking for a new blog to share with you and found this lovely........

What a wonderful blog ( I say that about most of them don't I? - Well get ready for me to repeat myself for the remaining of the year...........I share what I like and think is wonderful.....).  It has just about everything and this beautiful blog lady shares all of her ideas and how-tos.  Enjoy.

Doesn't this fella make your heart melt?  Hmm, guess melting isn't exactly a word that you should use in the same sentence as snowman!  Another cute project to inspire you for next year's homemade ornament....do you make homemade ornaments?
Like always, smile..........

Missed yesterday

Good morning.  Thankfully, this is not a recent photo of mine.  This was taken while we were stationed in Alaska.......beautiful state and I loved it and wouldn't mind going back.

I missed posting yesterday........I got wandering around the Internet, noticed the time and had to get myself in gear.  Went to Joann's for some material and of course HAD to look at all of the reduced Christmas items too.  Actually found an item that was reduced to 70% that I can use - I just feel like the queen of thrift when that happens.  Michaels was right next door.  Now this isn't the Michaels that I usually shop at, so it seemed like I was in there forever!!!!!  Not that I ever mind spending time there..........oh on the contrary, but had to watch my time as I am on pick up duty this week for school.
I had a comment yesterday..........I have to tell you, receiving a comment is like winning the lottery!!!  I am writing and posting and hopefully people will start to come back to my blog.....time will tell.
Here is today's link:
Grab a cuppa, glass of water, can of soda, whatever your little heart desires and get comfy.  This bog is filled with beautiful photos, one right after the other.

I just love these guys.  I have no idea where I snagged this photo, but I am sure glad that I did.  If anyone knows who created these wonderful creatures, please let me know, so I can give them credit.  I wonder if they are filled with rice or pellets, so they plop down to sit...hmmmm, maybe two Styrofoam balls, just plain stuffing ?  I don't know, but I do know that I just love them.
I know this is a silly question, because you would have to be the most hard hearted person in the world not to have smile at the snowmen, but here it goes - Have you smiled today?  Shared a smile?

It's a Monday

It's Monday.  The end.  Sometimes it is better to just let things go and today I am doing just that.  The majority of the day was spent trying to figure out and ordering some miniature cards to hand out - like business cards, except smaller.  The company is called Moo Cards and they do a wonderful job.  Here is the link to their site
I am sure it was me, but I was just about at my wits end trying to accomplish this.  My beautiful and talented friend in Albuquerque NM was on the phone long distance, placing an order at the same time and patiently walking me through the process.  She has ordered from them before.  I had attempted to do this in December on my own........think it was on a Tuesday, so apparently the day of the week has nothing to do with my computer challenged brain.  The order is placed and now I will wait patiently (not) for the arrival of the mini moo cards.........once I receive them, I will try to remember to share them with you.
