When you found a spot at a table, you better not leave it. You stood there and inched slowly around the table.......and if you picked up something and even thought you might want to purchase it...........well you didn't put it down! Now saying that, let me explain..........it wasn't that the booths/tables weren't stocked, they were........lots and lots and lots and lots of inventory........it was the crowd. I have never seen aliens that transformed so remarkably into human form..........seriously, these ladies were possessed.......totally had transformed themselves into human bead suckers.......they were out for blood. When I finally found my blue wearing friend, I just gave her that look and I could see the same thought reflected back from hers.................RUN!!!!!!!!!!!
I truly believe that every woman who could spell the word B E A D was here.........and with a mission. Now I wore a red top.......easy to spot, right? Right. My friend, she wore navy blue, along with half of the people here..........sigh. Now I am not totally living in my own world.......I know that I have grown in width. Amen, no more to be said. I know that I am part of the problem in tight quarters........again, I know this. I stand aside to let others pass, I always ask if I can get through.........I do........" Excuse me, may I go around you? Pardon me, I would like to move around to the back of the table.", that sort of thing. Well ladies, I am now thinking that quite a few of these women needed Miracle Ear too!!!!
I sure hope you don't give up on me..........I will rebound, I always do.........it just seems to be taking me a wee bit longer this time around..........I'm not unhappy, in fact life is pretty darn good........I just don't seem to get around to posting. Amen.
Now on Saturday and Sunday both I went to a bead show. Now before I go any further I will admit that the only other "hobby/craft" show that I have ever attended is the beautiful and highly acclaimed (and rightfully so) Houston Quilt Show. The people attending were very, hmmmm, lady like and the gentlemen that were there, well they were gentleman. On the vendor side of the area it was crowded at times, but not overly, rudely, panicy crowded. I will preface that I have attended bead show before......in the same building as this one was held. Many of the same vendors were at the past shows. I went with this heavenly, idealistic vision of me taking pictures of the various beads to share the color and mixture. SLAP ME UP ALONG SIDE THE HEAD!!!!!!
Well these certainly aren't from the bead show.............and I never even took out my camera! I attended with a friend and let me tell you the pre-bead show drama. Parking. Now I came off the interstate and looked over and almost ran off the road........honestly. There were vultures in the shapes of cars circling the parking lot. Really. I mean I could feel my heart start to speed up.....but I took a deep cleansing breath and drove over to the parking lot, slowly inched myself off of the street, now remember, I just turned into the parking lot......there had to be at least 20 cars behind me also wanting into the lot. I hear this honking from )(@%*&%@ and a lady was giving me a universal sign language for being number one in her book. Hello? I just pulled off of the street into the lot.......what great offense could I committed already? I am sure I gave her the " deer in the headlights look" and kept inching away. Now this is the miracle that occurred, I don't know if you heard of it taking place or not.............just as I was inching and crawling along, a car leaves.........not only does it leave, but it is the end spot. I hesitated, looked both ways to see if any other vultures...oooops, cars.... were getting ready to pull in........nope..........I put my foot to the gas pedal and grabbed it. I almost got out and started to sing "I am the champion!", but I remained cool, gathered myself together and waited to hear from my friend. I didn't wait long, the cell phone rings, and she is saying "What is going on? Who are all of these people?" She was lucky and found a spot at the end too.........so at this point I am thinking that maybe I had pre-judged the day wrongly. Alas, this fantasy was short lived and I glanced over at my friend and knew right away that we needed a plan!!!!!!
The show continued on into Sunday, so I went to church Saturday night and was at the doors when they opened at 11. It was nice, from 11 to 12:30 I shared the show with the nicest, sweetest, most sharing and gentle females.........and I heard over and over again "Oh this is so much better than yesterday. " or " Did you come yesterday? It was scary."
Now I know this is a long post, but I have to add something, I have too. Sunday there were quite a few husbands attending too...........this is after the 12:30 time........now instead of sitting outside in the lobby where there are lots of comfortable chairs and couches or staying in the cars, reading the Sunday newspapers, they were following their wives around telling if they could or could not purchase items............man that just makes for one ticked off wife!!!!! or, they stood in the check-out line so when their wives were done finding items, they wouldn't have to wait. I guess that is ok, but it seemed like such an unfair advantage for us single shoppers.........tee hee.
Did I smile, yes. At one point on Saturday when I just stopped and looked around me, I just started to giggle.........the only thing I could compare this whole scene with : sharks circling and closing in...............of course me and my giggles did draw attention!!!!!
